Chromebook Price: will it still be an issue once the Acer starts shipping?

A lot of the talk about the Chromebook being too expensive centered around the high-end model, the Samsung 3G Chromebook. Now that the $350 Acer will be shipping soon, will this end all of the "Chromebook price is too high" talk? Or will skeptics continue to insist that people will want to do real work on $200 computers?

also going to vote that haters gonna hate. they're going to claim that even though netbooks are smaller, have weaker processors, batteries screens and keyboards that netbooks are better. personally, I think that kind of idiocy means they deserve their netbooks

What I find some folks fail to see is a Chromebook is a useful tool, like a screwdriver. It isn't a wrench, but some will try to make it so, then complain!

There are folks who also must be "style" conscious, even when it comes to use of a computer. Gotta be a Mac because, well, you know, IT"S A MAC!!!

Chromebooks work for someone who wants a NO BS way to use the web and most things the web can do for you. Is it perfect? No. Is it getting better? YES!

People talk themselves in and out of things everyday. They also try to justify their thinking, say about netbooks, to build themselves up. Me? I need something that really works and I can use without undue BS. A Chromebook does that for me, most of the time.

And yes, I have a netbook, too. I simply find the Chromebook better for my "webcentric" computer use.

I agree. I've read quite a few reviews of Chrome OS, complaining about the lack of ZIP support, no built-in document processor, etc. I don't see why it isn't embraced as-is.

Well I would like to have a system that is not too high priced, and would run chrome OS without headaches.
I do run chrome OS on my netbook and it runs just fine, but I would like to have a system that has all of the keys for the system.
such as the f-key replacements. I'm one of those people that get every os and run it. I even have a bought copy of BEOS 5,
that I don't use anymore since the company has closed quite a long time ago.
I also like to get into the more technical aspects of all of the OSes that I get my hands on. Just like I will with chrome OS.
